Universal-Automatic Corporation introduces the MMS Flexible Machining Center. The standard MMS-3 configuration offers up to three times the production rate of standard horizontal machining centers while using the same floor space and offered at comparable cost. The systems work well with robotic loading and unloading, to minimize operator involvement and costs.

The MMS-3 is configured with three, 3-axis units mounted perpendicularly around a common four-sided tombstone. The standard units employ a six-spindle turret operating within a 12" cube, with rapid travel rates in excess of 1500/ipm. Spindle speeds are up to 9,000 RPM and the turrets index in 1.5 seconds. Each machine comes complete with a completely interlocked machine enclosure with a roof and a chip conveyor for easy chip removal.

Standard robot packages are easily adapted to the MMS in the load/unload position, increasing productivity and consistency. Universal-Automatic will provide a turnkey solution to your production needs including all fixtures, automation and tooling. Machines can also be customized to run particular parts requiring angular holes or can be paired with other machines in a complete cell.

All units are controlled by an Indramat MTC 200 PC based system. This is an application driven G-code based control. Universal-Automatic can customize screens for your particular shop floor requirements. The MMS is a highly competitive option when a standard horizontal machine does not support production requirements, and a special machine is not practical.
